Kivanç Tatlitug

Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ (born October 27, 1983) is a Turkish actor and model.

Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ was born in Adana in southern Turkey. He has four siblings. The name Kıvanç means “pride” in Turkish and Tatlıtuğ is a portmanteau of the Turkish words tatlı (meaning “sweet”) and tuğ (the tail of a horse). Although there has been speculation that he might have a possible Bosnian ancestry, Tatlıtuğ has denied these claims saying he was born and bred in Adana and his family had been in bakery business in this city for more than hundred years.He was sent to Yenice Çağ Private High School by his family where he excelled in basketball. Due to his father’s illness, Tatlıtuğ and his family moved to Istanbul so his father could get the proper treatment. In Istanbul, he joined Fenerbahçe Ülker sports club as an amateur basketball player.

Tatlıtuğ was recruited by the Gaye Sökmen modelling agency after his mother sent pictures of him. He won the “Best Model of Turkey” modeling pageant and went on to win the “Best Model of the World”, an international modelling pageant in October 2001. Since then, Kıvanç has been working as a professional model and actor.

Kıvanç also hosted some pageants and shows. A turning point in Tatlıtuğ’s career was when he starred in Gümüş as the character Mehmet Şadoğlu. He acted in the comedy movie “Amerikalılar Karadeniz’de 2″ which was directed by Kartal Tibet. He has also starred in other shows such as “Menekşe ile Halil” where he played alongside of Sedef Avcı. In his latest TV series “Aşk-ı Memnu”, Kıvanç starred with Beren Saat where he played a cowardly, selfish casanova that has an affair with his uncle’s beautiful young wife. He won the “Altın Kelebek Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role” for his performance in “Aşk-ı Memnu”. Kıvanç dated Miss World 2002 Azra Akın from 2005 to 2009 and actress Meltem Cumbul from early 2009 to August 2009. He dated İdil Fırat, the daughter of millionaire Önder Fırat, but they broke up.Kivanc returned to television in 2011 with the series Kuzey Güney.

He has been dubbed “the Middle East’s Brad Pitt” due to his popularity in the Arab World. Because many of the series which he acted in was sent to broadcast to Arab World after original broadcast in Turkey. He was chosen the “sexiest Turkish man alive” on a poll conducted by the Turkish daily Hürriyet in July 2009.
